Die Aktivitäten des Erich Fromm Study Centers dienen dem Ziel, das sozialpsychologische Denken Erich Fromms zu vermitteln und weiterzuentwickeln. Auf der Grundlage eines humanistischen Wissenschaftsverständnisses geht es um die Erforschung der psychologischen und sozialen Voraussetzungen für das Gelingen von Mensch und Gesellschaft sowie die Anwendung entsprechender Erkenntnisse auf Lehrinhalte und Forschungsprojekte.

Am 8. Februar 2024 um 19 Uhr wurde das Zentrum für Humanistische Ethik im Erich Fromm Study Center an der IPU mit einem Eröffnungsvortrag von Christian Felber mit dem Titel „Gemeinwohlökonomie - Ein Praxismodell humanistischer Ethik“ eröffnet.
Die Gemeinwohl-Ökonomie (GWÖ) versteht sich als ethische Marktwirtschaft, die nicht auf Gewinnstreben und Konkurrenz beruht, sondern auf Gemeinwohl-Streben und Kooperation. Erfolg wird nicht primär an finanziellen Kennzahlen gemessen, sondern mit dem Gemeinwohl-Produkt (Volkswirtschaft), der Gemeinwohl-Bilanz (Betriebswirtschaft) und einer Gemeinwohl-Prüfung (Finanzwirtschaft)...
